Street Style At London Fashion Week: A Winter Wardrobe Masterclass

When it comes to the street style set, there’s little that can deter them from wearing exactly what they want. Over the years we’ve seen mini skirts in the snow, puffer jackets in heatwaves and sandals wading through floods, but when London Fashion Week‘s opening day coincided with Storm Eunice – dubbed to be ‘the worst storm in over thirty years’ – these unshakable sartorialists had some decisions to make.

This year has already seen some pretty epic displays of street style. From the super extravagant scenes at Haute Couture fashion week in Paris, to anti-neutral zesty brights in Copenhagen and understated, effortlessly chic looks in New York just last week, the return of IRL fashion weeks has welcomed an influx of those major fashion moments that were somewhat lacking while we were all isolating at home in loungewear.

While we swooned over Paloma Elsesser dominating the runways, Erdem’s beautiful pianist Annie Yim and the Roksanda x Fila debut (!), it was impossible to ignore the many looks sitting front row serving up their own slice of wardrobe inspo. So what were the key take-aways?

Boxy-shouldered blazers – particularly in neon oranges and greens – were big news, while trench coats with a twist (think cut-out waists, strapping and tonal colour-blocking), super skinny sunglasses and sheer inserts forecasted an optimistic feeling of spring on the horizon.

The Scandi street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week just made a *very* compelling case for ditching the neutrals

Of course, with this being London, outerwear was top of the agenda for many. Long, duster-length silhouettes proved super popular, with cosy, fuzzy fabrics and faux furs taking centre stage.

The hottest colour on the streets this season? There’s little doubt that green continues to reign supreme across the spectrum, whether you’re into muted pistachios to punchy limes.
