Silk’n LED Face Mask 100 Review: GLAMOUR Tries

There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Enter: GLAMOUR Tries, the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from the YSL lipstick printer to Il Makiage’s iconic foundation and even the viral Hair Bedazzler tool from Amazon. These are the products every influencer/Gen-Z beauty sleuth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work.

And this week, our Social Media Manager Luca Wetherby-Matthews tried the Silk’n LED Face Mask 100, which features not one but for four different-coloured LED modes to fight breakouts, dry skin and more.

While LED face masks are nothing new to the beauty industry, they still remain one of the most effective at-home skin devices, and for a good reason too. LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy is designed to stimulate cell division and the production of new cells as well as aid tissue repair. While many other competitor models on the market only work with one colour of LED lights (usually red), this mask in particular includes not one, but four colour modes – each designed to target a specific skin-related concern with the help of 100 lights. Whether you’re after youth-boosting results, reducing oil production or redness – this handy device will help you out, easy.

“So here I am attaching it to my face with these adjustable straps. And then, you turn it on and switch between ‘manual’ or ‘auto’ modes. ‘Auto’ will do a 50-minute sequence of all the different settings, and with ‘manual’ you pick your own,” Luca explains as she proceeds to try the mask on and show us the control buttons.

“Red is for wrinkles, blue is for bacteria and oil production, yellow is for redness and soothing and purple is anti-inflammatory and youth-boosting, ” she says. Luca has decided to opt for the blue.

“I’m just going to chill for 10 minutes: read my book, work from home, pretend I’m a normal human being going about my day. They recommend that you use it once every three days for 10 minutes at a time during your first week, and then reduce it as you go through the following weeks, which is what I’m going to do.”

Concluding results from her first try, Luca’s looking impressed with how her skin looked like just after 10 minutes of use. “I definitely feel like my skin felt fresher. It might be a mix of skincare routine and hormones, but I do feel like there’s been a reduction in spots, and really excited to see oil reduction too. I enjoyed this experience.” she concludes.
