Severance: Plot, Cast, Trailer & Release Date

Is your work/life balance getting you down? Enter Apple TV+’s Severance, a series about a company that permanently separates employees’ memories from their work and personal lives via a surgical procedure.

So far, the nine-episode series has a coveted 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (although there won’t be any audience scores ‘till its release later this month). One critic wrote, “Mixing the quirky workplace drudgery of The Office with the dystopian dread of 1984 … Severance is simultaneously hilarious and terrifying.”

If you weren’t already convinced, allow us to introduce you to the star-studded cast, including Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Christopher Walken, Zach Cherry, and Patricia Arquette (to name a few).

Here’s everything we know about Severance so far, including plot, cast, release date, and trailer.

What is Severance about?

An insidious blend of science fiction and alternative reality, Severance is directed and produced by comedic legend, Ben Stiller.

It follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), an employee at Lumon Industries who consents to a “severance” procedure, which irreversibly separates his work and personal memories. This means that when he’s at work, he has no memories of anything outside his job, and when he’s at home, he can’t remember anything about his job. Dystopian enough for you yet?

Of course, the experiment is not all it seems, and Mark is soon forced to reckon with existential questions about his work… and himself.

Who will star in Severance

Alongside Adam Scott in the lead role, you can also expect to see Patricia Arquette as his terrifying boss at Lumon Industries. They’re joined by John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken (per Deadline).
