Award season is finally kicking off with the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (AKA the SAG Awards) this Sunday 28th February, honouring the best performers across film and TV. After the Golden Globes were cancelled back in January, the SAG Awards are Hollywood’s first major, televised ceremony, complete with an in-person red carpet after Covid restrictions saw stars serving major looks from their homes last year.
And after some of our favourite stars – from Maya Jama to Adele – absolutely slayed the Brit Awards red carpet at the start of the month, we were excited to see tonight’s looks on the other side of the pond.
Jewel-toned gowns ruled the red carpet this year. First came Saniyya Sidney’s off-the-shoulder, tulle cobalt dress, followed by Ariana DeBose’s bright magenta gown, then Karen Pittman’s strapless sunshine yellow piece.
Another undeniable trend was black and metallic. One of our favourite looks of the night – and one of the first actors to step out on the star-studded red carpet – was from Squid Game‘s HoYeon Jung, who stunned in a custom Louis Vuitton silk dress embroidered with crystals and beads. She paired the look with black shoes, diamond jewels and her hair pulled into a low plait. The actor has been an ambassador for the French fashion house since October last year.
Then Killing Eve‘s Sandra Oh who proved that foil is the new black in a show-stopping tiered silver dress, paired with matching metallic eyeshadow and her signature curls. We are not worthy.
