Jennifer Lopez Netflix Documentary: What We Know So Far

We simply can’t get enough of Jennifer Lopez, AKA J.Lo. Whether she’s serving serious hair goals (see the bounce blowout, the jewel-studded bun, and her sleek ’90s bangs) or opening up about her rekindled romance with Ben Affleck, when J.Lo talks, we listen.

So it’s fair to say we’re pretty excited about the news that Jennifer Lopez (AKA Jenny From The Block) is all set to release a documentary with Netflix.

The multi-hyphenate confirmed the news during an interview with the New York Times, explaining that the documentary will focus on the year she turned 50 (2019), referring to it as the year “everything I had worked for in movies, music and fashion just started happening.”

It’s safe to say that 2019 was a major year for J.Lo. For starters, she starred as Ramona in Lorene Scafaria’s Hustlers, which saw her receive long-overdue critical acclaim (and a Golden Globe nomination).

She was also recognised for her services to fashion, receiving the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award and breaking the internet (again) after walking the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week wearing the iconic Versace jungle dress that she wore for the Grammys in 2000.

As well as embarking on an It’s My Party world tour, she then went on to headline the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show with Shakira. So yes, we’re very much excited for a behind-the-scenes peek at this momentous year.

J.Lo’s latest film Marry Me, which also stars Owen Wilson and Sarah Silverman, sees the actress play a lonely superstar who agrees to marry a stranger on a whim. What could possibly go wrong?

In an interview with People, J.Lo described playing the role as “really fun and also cathartic,” adding that she enjoyed “revealing a little something of what it’s like living in the public eye.”

She also opened up about her relationship with Ben Affleck, saying, “I just feel very happy and lucky to be in a relationship that’s happy and loving, and I want to do everything I can to protect that and keep it safe. It deserves that, it really does. … We hold it sacred.”
