Platinum blondes have been huge news for several summers, but according to the experts it’s time for our hair to get a little warmer this year.
After two years of lockdown-induced salon closures – and some major root over-growth for many of us – we’ve all had plenty of time to study endless inspo pics and conjure up new shades and shapes to transform our look for summer 2022.
“Since we reopened the salon, if anything I thought people might sway towards more natural shades having got used to it during lockdown – but it’s been the total opposite”, reveals Harriet Muldoon , super colourist – and bleach blonde expert – at top London salon Larry King . “All of my clients just want to be as blonde as they can be, a brighter version of themselves”.
But there has been one noticeable difference in the requests that Harriet has received over the last few months, and that’s all thanks to every blonde’s newfound love for warmer tones. Or, as Harriet calls it, ‘Old Hollywood blonde’.
“Whether it’s with bleach, with highlights or with balayage – even for those going for fun blue and pink accents at the fringe or ends – everything is being finished with something golden. More like a retro, old Hollywood blonde. I’ve even gone a bit warmer!” she revealed.
While this trend may surprise those of you who have spent what feels like a lifetime drenching your hair in purple shampoo and various different toners in order to avoid any yellow tinges, those with their finger on the pulse in the world of celebrity hair trends may have seen it coming.
