We’ve been massive fans of Farrah Storr since she took over the helm of British ELLE back in 2019. In such a short space of time, Storr has transformed the fashion glossy and given us a plethora of bold and groundbreaking covers featuring Michaela Coel, Ramla Ali, Alva Claire, Olly Eley — and this was only within the last several months. Storr strips it all back for her last issue as editor for February 2022 serving up a simple and straightforward Dakota Johnson cover for us to deliberate. Captured up against a clean white backdrop, the American actress is decked out in Gucci courtesy of stylist Charles Varenne for the image photographed by Paola Kudacki.
The demure approach took our forums by surprise. “Good lord, this is absolutely atrocious,” voiced KINGofVERSAILLES.
“The saddest magazine cover I have ever seen in my entire life,” said matheus_s.
“Feels like she’s still promoting Fifty Shades of Grey. That’s how dated this feels,” critiqued MON.

“Dakota always looks older than she is on magazine covers and here is no exception,” FashionMuseDior chimed in.
“She needs a keratin treatment,” declared Kite.
“Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,” stated an underwhelmed WeSniffInVipArea.
But not everyone was disappointed. “She has the Jane Birkin allure. You can’t fail with a beauty like her,” defended ivano.
“The cover itself is inoffensive on the eye, it’s simple, straightforward, no signs of Photoshop and I’ve undoubtedly come across worse. Always liked Dakota Johnson, but can understand everyone feeling underwhelmed by it given the fact there’s zero…pizzazz,” commented vogue28.
