Alexander McQueen Spring 2022 Campaign


An Alexander McQueen advertising campaign hasn’t quite taken our fancy since Fall 2019 with Kate Moss. Sarah Burton picked Paolo Roversi to snap last season’s campaign after umpteen ads photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth. Now the brand taps Steven Meisel for Spring 2022 with the legendary lensman and firm forum favorite capturing his first McQueen campaign with a long list of models. Awar Odhiang, Lucia Fairfull, Celina Ralph, Sora Choi, Anok Yai, Arta Gee, Lara Stone, Eny Jaki, Wali Deutsch, Jill Kortleve, Cassie Wong, Fran Summers, Achenrin Madit, Florence Nicholls, Guinevere van Seenus, Modupe Oluwalade and Jennifer Ball are all shot in black and white.

Meisel for McQueen took our forum members by surprise. “Absolutely amazing, a Meisel studio group shoot in his prime form. The cast is also great. What an unexpected and totally welcome surprise,” applauded dontbeadrag.

“Meisel for McQueen? Where was that collaboration 20 years ago?” asked aracic. “This is wonderful, as can be expected. Pure Richard Avedon! Super excited to see Guinevere and Lara working with Steven again, they both look stunning!”

“An obvious Avedon rip-off with a big dash of Calvin Klein and a hint of Versace. But I can’t help but love this,” confessed mikel.

“The problem is this collaboration came too late!” DK92 pointed out.

Not everyone was a fan, however. “As much as I am a Meisel stan, this ain’t good. Especially considering last season’s Roversi campaign. This is so lifeless and dull,” described an unforgiving carbon-made.

“I want to like it, but I can’t, it’s too lifeless for my taste,” commented FashionMuseDior.

“Afraid to say I don’t care for this at all,” voiced Summer Day.

“These legendary photographers are running out of ideas. Please hire someone new and fresh,” pleaded dfwn2n.
